Ethics, War, and Peace
Carnegie Council's work is based on the premise that internationally
recognized norms—such as human rights, self-determination, sovereignty, justice,
and legitimacy—must be part of foreign policy. Council programs generate a
dialogue that explicates the moral choices behind the toughest issues in
international affairs, and the implications and consequences of these choices.
Global Social Justice
Recognizing the ethical dilemmas intrinsic to building better international social and economic institutions, promoting global development efforts, and protecting individual freedoms, the Council’s work encourages reflection and action towards achieving a more just world.
Religion in Politics
The Council's mission is to stimulate debate on the place of religion in public life, through a close examination of the rights and wrongs of harnessing the moral authority of religion for political purposes.
