In this 2005 talk, Bacevich argues that military force has increasingly
become the preferred instrument of American foreign policy, a process that began
not with 9/11, but with the end of the Cold War.
[Editor's note: Professor Bacevich's son, whom he mentions in this talk as serving in the U.S. Army, was killed in Iraq in May 2007.]
