Robert Kagan is a Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for
International Peace, where he specializes in issues of U.S. leadership and
foreign policy. He is co-founder with William Kristol of the Project for a New
American Century. Before joining the Carnegie Endowment, he worked in the
State Department as a member of the Policy Planning Staff and as principal
speech writer for Secretary of State George P. Shultz during the Reagan
Administration.
He is a columnist for The Washington Post and a contributing
editor to the Weekly Standard and the New Republic. In addition to
his best-selling Of Paradise and Power, he is also the author of A
Twilight Struggle: American Power and Nicaragua 1977-1999, and is co-editor
with William Kristol of Present Dangers: Crisis and Opportunity in American
Foreign and Defense Policy.
