John J. Davenport

John Davenport is associate professor of philosophy at Fordham University in New York City. He teaches and writes on ethics and political philosophy (including democratic theory and global governance), moral psychology and agency, existentialism, and philosophy of religion. His books include a recent monograph on motivation and identity titled Will as Commitment and Resolve, and Kierkegaard After MacIntyre (a collection co-edited with Anthony Rudd). His articles include "A Global Federalist Paper" (Journal of Value Inquiry 42, 2008), and several essays on free will, norms, and liberty. He is working on new essays concerning just war and global governance, and a book about political and moral autonomy.
