Ian Martin

Ian Martin is currently Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Nepal for Support to the Peace Process. He was previously Representative in Nepal of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, May 2005-August 2006. He has some 30 years of experience in the field of human rights, both with non-governmental organizations and as a representative of the United Nations. He served as the Secretary General of Amnesty International from 1986-1982. He has held top positions in UN operations in Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, East Timor, and Ethiopia and Eritrea.
