Ambassador Allan Rock is the former special advisor on Sri Lanka to the United Nations Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict.
He has worked extensively on human rights issues and was involved in the establishment of the UN Human Rights Council and the Peacebuilding Commission. From 2004 to 2006, he was the Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations.
Rock served in the Canadian cabinet of Jean Chrétien as Minister of Justice from 1993 to 1997 and as Minister of Health from 1997 to 2002.
