Hamburg will highlight recent developments in preventing mass violence by drawing together insights and innovations from leaders in the field such as Kofi Annan, Desmond Tutu, Sam Nunn, William Perry, Sidney Drell, Larry Diamond, and Amartya Sen. He will identify the clear warnings that always appear long before genocide erupts and the critical points of entry for early help to countries with troubled intergroup relations. He will also emphasize the promise of international centers of excellence for prevention of mass atrocities.
