Description:
In 2005, Harvard Professor John Ruggie was appointed to clarify standards of corporate responsibility and accountability with respect to human rights. Since his appointment, he has engaged in an extensive process of global consultation and research, culminating in his presentation to the Human Rights Council this past June of an overarching conceptual framework for business and human rights. The Council unanimously welcomed his work and extended his mandate for an additional three years to develop practical recommendations for all relevant stakeholders.
Professor Ruggie will present his work to date and his proposed work plan going forward. He welcomes reactions and input.
